Talking to Chico DeBarge. Right On! Magazine, 1987.

Another DeBarge Soars to Stardom
He’s born to be different. He’s a DeBarge, yet he’s an individual. On our Right On! Cover, he looks like James, but during our coversation he converses like El. And like his singing brothers and sisters, DeBarge, he already has hits on his first LP, Chico DeBarge.
It’s actually very thrilling to be on the ground floor of someone’s career and it’s even more thrilling to greet the latest in the long line of talented DeBarges. “It’s thrilling for me to be in Right On! also,” Chico smiles. He covers up yawn and stretches out on the sofa during out early morning chat.
Listen: Switch. I Luv It.
Switch V was the first album by the band Switch to not fully feature brothers Bobby and Tommy DeBarge. However, Bobby did do lead vocals and production work for this one final track on the Switch V album, "I Luv It".

Words & Motivation: Be Kind
"Constant kindness can accomplish so much. As the sun makes the ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust and hostility to evaporate." - Albert Schweitzer
Flashback Article: The Heat of the Rhythm. Record Magazine, 1985.

Clearly, everything has a proper place and time for El DeBarge, chief writer, producer and spokesman of DeBarge, the family group that’s emerged as probably the very brightest light in Motown’s roster for the ‘80s. How else could he have the confidence to cite philosophy, rather than the always-pressing topics of promotion and tour support, in discussing DeBarge’s fourth album, Rhythm of the Night? His perspective on the new record: “There comes a time when you have to learn; there comes a time when you have to teach and show what you’ve learned. I had to learn something else this time.”

Words & Motivation: Remove the Obstacles
